Task It is exactly what the name implies, lighting is used to illuminate a certain thing. In a basement, some examples are pendant lights over a bar, chandeliers or large hanging fixtures over a dining table, under-cabinet lights in a kitchen, or reading lamps by a sofa or a desk.

Indirect This lighting is about setting a mood or highlighting certain architecture, artwork, or collectibles. Some examples are rope lighting behind a bar or inside shelving units, wall sconces, or a small light fixture hung over artwork.
